Behind the Scenes of a Magical Wedding Proposal

Capturing proposals is truly one of my favourite photography escapades. It’s a flurry of authentic emotional moments that happen all in a span of a few minutes, sometimes even seconds!  I always feel a rush of adrenaline coursing through my system as I wait in anticipation, excited for moment after moment to unfold in front of my lens.

Obviously, who wouldn’t love being a stealthy ninja paparazzi?  It definitely makes me feel like Keanu Reeves with a camera.

Whether it’s camping and camouflaging myself in a forest, helping in the design setup to stage the proposal or scouting the location and marking the spots, I’m ALL IN.

So when Christian messaged me asking me to be part of his wedding proposal to his long distance beau, Frances, I was excited to put on my secret agent cap once again and achieve my mission.

The plan: to propose at Sea to Sky Gondola

There was nowhere to hide so I just had to look like your regular tourist with a camera, admiring the view.  Except it started out as a cold, foggy and misty day.

But it was as if the universe knew what was coming up because a few minutes before Christian, Frances and their family arrived, the fog cleared and give way to the most spectacular view

Then it happened: Christian knelt down on one knee in front of Frances and her family and asked her to marry him.  There’s a surge of happiness and exhilaration I felt just being able to be part of such a great milestone . To witness the surprise in Frances, the nervousness in Christian, the emotional yes, the joy in the air, the family in such high spirits, and the beam of the newly engaged couple, I can’t put it into words. But I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.
